The frequent toad is a relatively rotund animal with brief legs and an ungainly gait. It actually doesn’t seem like a superb tree climber – but citizen surveys recommend that frequent toads typically climb bushes to cover in hollows and nest containers.
“It’s fairly extraordinary,” says Silviu Petrovan on the College of Cambridge. “The individuals who do surveying for bats had been like, ‘Oh yeah, we do discover toads every so often’. However no one working with toads is aware of this.”
